Introduction
Purpose
The Master of Science in Information Systems (MIS) offers a challenging curriculum to prepare managers in information systems and technologies. The program offers practical, hands-on experience and theoretical discussions of information systems and applications, especially in for-profit environments. The program is built on the premise that an information systems manager should be able to:
- Understand the current information technologies.
- Evaluate, adopt, and adapt new technologies.
- Comprehend the organizational setting in which these technologies must be implemented.
- Manage information systems as an organizational resource by making critical IS-related decisions and recruiting and retaining IS/IT personnel.

Requirements
Admission Requirements
Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate (if applicable) coursework from accredited institutions with a minimum undergraduate overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.80. If the GPA is lower than 2.8, candidates with relevant work experience may be considered for admission. For such consideration, candidates should include an up-to-date resume in their application for admission.
Program Requirements
Foundation courses are required for those students admitted to the program with a limited business or programming educational background. The requirement of these courses can be met based on undergraduate/graduate (transcripted) coursework completed or other methods that demonstrate an understanding and proficiency.
Foundation courses
A programming course may be required for students admitted to the MIS program with no programming background. This requirement may be met based on coursework completed, work experience, or other methods. The graduate program director will assess students’ programming needs by the end of their first semester or-if requested-before admission and advise students of the next steps.
MIS Program Curriculum
The MIS degree requires 10 courses (30 credits). Fifteen credits are required, plus a zero-credit capstone. Fifteen credits are electives, organized into program electives and support electives. Students may use elective classes to complete a concentration in one of two areas - business analytics or management.
