SWK 311 Practice with Communities & Organizations (3 credits)

Prerequisite(s): Declared social work major, SWK 204  with C- or better, SWK 205  with C- or better, SWK 206  with C- or better, STA 113  OR STA 205  OR STA 205R  with C- or better; GPA 2.75 or higher

This course covers knowledge and skills necessary to apply the generalist social work process in working with communities and organizations.  Experiences of oppression by members of marginalized communities are examined.  The need for self-awareness and understanding of roles social workers and organizations play in promoting human wellbeing are emphasized.
