SWK 605 Inclusion, Oppression, & Social Work (3 Credits)3 classroom + 0 lab/studio hours Prerequisite(s): Admission to MSW Program Prerequisite OR Co-requisite: SWK 631 or SWK 633 Taught: Variable, check with department This course introduces students to selected theories that critically analyze oppression at individual and institutional levels. Various experiences of oppression that limit opportunities and human rights for marginalized groups are explored. Developing self-awareness as well as anti-oppressive policies are emphasized as essential to ethical and effective social work practice.
