SWK 670 Mental Health/Illness and Psychiatric DX (3 credits)Hours: 3 classroom Prerequisite(s): Admission to Master of Social Work program or Instructor permission. Taught: Spring and summer The purpose of this course is to help students acquire a broad approach to the biopsychosocial assessment of mental illness that includes use of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (APA, 2013), but also considers other perspectives, including a critical examination of DSM from a social justice perspective. ♦
