Major topics include the history of the universe; the formation of solar systems; comparative geology of the terrestrial planets, moons, small solid bodies, and the gas/ice giant planets; the basic processes that shape the surface and interiors of planets; planetary atmospheres; extra-solar planets; and planetary missions.
